Frozen Sourdough Baguettes – Artisan French Bread, Bake-at-Home

₱ 290

Enjoy artisan-style sourdough baguettes at home with these frozen, bake-at-home loaves. Naturally fermented using traditional sourdough methods, each sourdough baguette is crafted to deliver the tangy flavor, crisp crust, and airy crumb commonly associated with artisan French bread. Suitable for sandwiches, bruschetta, soups, cheese boards, or simply enjoyed warm with butter or olive oil.

These sourdough baguettes are prepared using a slow fermentation process, partially baked, then frozen to help maintain quality during storage. Designed to be baked directly from frozen, they provide a convenient way to enjoy freshly baked sourdough whenever needed.

Chef’s Tips:

These bake-at-home sourdough baguettes are designed to be baked directly from frozen, simplifying preparation while producing a crisp crust and warm interior.

  • For a Crispier Crust: Lightly mist the surface of the frozen sourdough baguettes with water before baking, or place a small oven-safe dish of water on the lower oven rack. The additional steam may help promote better crust development and browning.
  • Rest Before Slicing: Allow the baguette to cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes after baking. Resting helps the crumb finish setting and makes slicing easier.
  • Slice with a Serrated Knife: Use a serrated bread knife and long, gentle sawing motions rather than pressing straight down. This helps preserve the loaf's structure and produces cleaner slices.
  • Protective Wrap: Keep unused loaves wrapped tightly in their original packaging to seal out ambient freezer odors and humidity.

Common Questions

Do I need to thaw the sourdough baguettes before baking?

No. These baguettes are specifically formulated to go straight from your freezer into a fully preheated oven. Baking directly from frozen helps promote consistent baking results while allowing the crust to become crisp during baking.

Why choose bake-at-home sourdough baguettes?

Baking directly from frozen allows you to enjoy freshly baked sourdough baguettes whenever needed. It also helps reduce food waste by allowing you to bake only the amount you plan to serve.

How do I prevent the crust from becoming overly hard or tough?

Ensure your oven is fully preheated to 200°C (392°F) before baking. A properly preheated oven helps develop a crisp, well-browned crust while allowing the interior to heat evenly.

Culinary Uses & Everyday Applications

🥪 Gourmet Sandwiches & Paninis

How to Bake Sourdough Baguettes

01
Oven Preheating: Preheat your oven or toaster oven to 200°C (392°F). Ensure the oven reaches full baking temperature before introducing the bread.
02
Direct Freezer-to-Oven Transfer: Place the frozen sourdough baguettes directly on a baking sheet or on the center oven rack. Do not thaw before baking.
03
Bake: Bake for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crisp. Actual baking times may vary depending on the oven.
04
Avoid Microwaving: Microwaving is not recommended for baking or thawing, as it may soften the crust and affect the bread's texture.
05
Cooling & Setting: Let the freshly baked baguette rest on a wire rack for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. Resting the loaf before cutting helps the crumb firm up for smoother, cleaner slices.

Storage

Follow proper storage practices to help preserve the baguette's texture and baking quality.

01
Frozen Storage: Store frozen at −18°C (0°F) or below until ready to bake. Keep the baguettes in their original packaging to help protect against freezer odors and moisture loss.
02
After Baking: For the best crust and crumb texture, enjoy freshly baked baguettes on the day of baking. If storing leftovers, keep them loosely wrapped in a breathable bag to help maintain the crust.
03
Cold Chain Handling: Delivered through a temperature-controlled cold chain to help maintain frozen conditions during transit.

Shelf Life

Follow these guidelines to maintain product quality throughout storage and after baking.

01
Best Quality Period: When stored continuously at −18°C (0°F) or below, the baguettes maintain their best quality until the best-before date indicated on the packaging.
02
Refreezing Guidance: Do not refreeze fully thawed baguettes, as refreezing may affect texture and baking performance.
03
Post-Bake Storage: For the best crust and texture, consume freshly baked baguettes on the day of baking. Store any leftovers in a paper bag or breathable wrap at room temperature. Avoid plastic wrapping, which may soften the crust.

Great sandwich rolls
This is real sourdough, not flavored Baker's yeast bread with sourdough flavoring. I cut them into quarters or thirds then freeze for making great budget-friendly fresh-baked sandwiches. Excellent for BLTs [bacon-lettuce-tomato]. This and Ekekiel 4.9 Sprouted Grain Bread are the only diabetic-friendly breads available here in the Fils. Plus, they're both very flavorful.
